Getting to know Dr. Luger.

Dr. Steven Luger has practiced family medicine for over 35 years. As the son of a gifted surgeon, he became interested in the practice of medicine and dedicated his life to helping others as a medical professional.

Dr. Luger attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, and graduated with his MD from the University of Rochester in New York. He did his residency training in Connecticut and for the first ten years practiced medicine in Old Lyme, Conn. – where he was infected with Lyme disease and fully recovered. It was the location of his practice in Old Lyme that sparked his interest and ultimate expertise in Lyme disease.  He has written and published textbook chapters, articles in medical journals, and did clinical research on Lyme disease.

Over the last five years, Dr. Luger has concentrated his practice in a Lyme disease clinic that he established at ProHealth Physicians. His passion is sharing a proper understanding of the disease with the public and with other physicians.  He has given Lyme disease lectures in many public venues and appeared on radio (NPR) and television programs (including Good Morning America) to discuss the disease and other tick-related issues.

Dr. Luger continues to educate his colleagues in the medical field by giving lectures in hospitals and to physicians across the country.  He has evaluated and/or treated about 2,200 patients for Lyme disease or suspected Lyme disease.  Dr. Luger is currently concentrating his efforts on developing Lyme disease resources and a client advisory service to provide access to anyone in pursuit of his expertise.  He hopes to utilize these engaging platforms to accurately educate and evaluate people who are concerned about Lyme disease or other tick-related illnesses.
